What you get
Korean
Western
$80/month for a Korean head spa. That’s what you spend on dry shampoo and hair supplements that aren’t doing anything — this actually addresses the root cause (literally).
The Korean philosophy
Korean beauty has always treated the scalp as an extension of the face — it’s skin that needs cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration just like your face does. Western haircare focuses on the hair shaft (shampoo, conditioner). Korean haircare starts at the root — literally.
The ritual
Scalp analysis
5 minA microscope camera magnifies your scalp 200x on a screen. You’ll see your follicles, any buildup, oil levels, and scalp condition up close. It’s fascinating and slightly gross. The technician uses this to customize the rest of the treatment.
Deep cleansing shampoo
10 minA specialized scalp shampoo (not your regular one) is massaged in to break down product buildup, excess sebum, and environmental grime. It reaches buildup that your daily shampoo leaves behind.
Scalp exfoliation
10 minA gentle scrub or chemical exfoliant (salicylic acid-based) is worked into the scalp to clear dead skin cells and unclog follicles. If you’ve never had this done, the amount of buildup that comes off is surprising.
Steam treatment
10 minWarm steam is applied to the scalp to open follicles and soften any remaining debris. It feels like a warm towel wrap around your head. Deeply relaxing.
Scalp massage
25 minThis is the main event. 20-30 minutes of pressure-point scalp massage using techniques that stimulate blood flow to the follicles. It’s the most relaxing thing you’ve ever experienced. Many people tear up — not from pain, from release.
Nourishing scalp mask
15 minA treatment mask with peptides, biotin, and herbal extracts is applied to the scalp and left to absorb. This feeds the follicles the nutrients they need for healthy hair growth.
Finishing serum + blow dry
10 minA lightweight scalp serum is applied to maintain hydration between sessions. Your hair is gently blow-dried and styled. You leave looking (and feeling) incredible.
Your first time
You’ll sit in a reclining shampoo chair, similar to a salon but more comfortable. Wear a comfortable top you don’t mind getting slightly damp around the collar. First they’ll show you your scalp on a magnified screen — don’t be alarmed, everyone’s scalp looks a little rough up close. Then it’s a series of washing, scrubbing, steaming, and the longest head massage of your life. The pressure ranges from gentle to firm — tell them your preference. Some people fall asleep. Others feel an emotional release from tension they didn’t know they were holding. The whole experience is 60-90 minutes. You leave with clean, bouncy, amazing-smelling hair.
When to book
Anytime works — there’s zero downtime or visual side effects. Great the day before a big event for extra-bouncy hair. For scalp health, monthly sessions are ideal. If you’re dealing with hair thinning, commit to weekly sessions for the first month, then taper to monthly. Don’t wash your hair for 24 hours after to let the treatment serums work.

East vs West
Western scalp treatments exist but are rare, expensive, and usually positioned as medical treatments for hair loss. Korean head spas are positioned as relaxation + maintenance — a spa experience that happens to be great for your scalp. The price reflects this: $60-120 vs $150-300+.
Aftercare
Don’t wash your hair for 24 hours to let the treatment serums absorb. When you do wash, use a gentle sulfate-free shampoo.
