Western
$350 per session for comprehensive acne scar treatment. A single fractional CO2 session in the West costs $1000+ and only addresses one scar type. This addresses all of them.
The Korean philosophy
Acne scars are not one problem — they’re several (ice pick, boxcar, rolling, atrophic, hypertrophic). Korean clinics reject the one-size-fits-all approach and instead combine technologies to address each scar type with the most effective modality. This precision approach delivers better results with less overall downtime than aggressive single-modality treatments.
The ritual
Scar mapping
15 minEach scar is identified and categorized by type (ice pick, boxcar, rolling) and depth. UV photography reveals additional texture issues. This map guides the entire treatment program.
Multi-modality treatment
35 minEach session may include fractional laser for broad resurfacing, TCA CROSS for individual ice pick scars, microneedling with PDRN or growth factors for overall texture, or a combination. The specific protocol varies session to session based on how your skin is responding.
Recovery support
15 minPost-treatment calming mask, LED therapy, and growth factor serum application. The goal is to support healing and minimize the downtime from the treatment.
Your first time
The first visit is primarily diagnostic. Your scars are photographed, mapped, and categorized. The practitioner explains which technologies will be used for which scars. The first treatment session typically starts conservatively — lower settings to see how your skin responds. Numbing cream is applied before any procedures. Fractional laser feels like hot pinpricks. TCA CROSS feels like a brief sting on individual scars. Microneedling feels like vibrating pressure. After the session, your face will be red and you may have pinpoint bleeding or crusting. This resolves over 3-7 days. Plan to look rough for a few days after each session.
When to book
Plan 5-7 days of downtime after each session. Don’t schedule around important events. The full program takes 4-8 months (sessions every 4-6 weeks). Start in fall/winter when sun exposure is minimal. Commit to strict SPF use throughout and after the program.

East vs West
Western clinics typically offer one technology per session (fractional laser OR microneedling OR chemical peel). Korean clinics combine multiple modalities in a single session, targeting each scar type with the most effective technology. This multi-modality approach achieves better results in fewer total sessions with less cumulative downtime.
Aftercare
3-7 days of redness and peeling are normal. Keep the skin moist with a simple moisturizer. SPF 50+ is absolutely mandatory — sun exposure on treated skin causes permanent hyperpigmentation. No retinol, AHA/BHA, or active products for 1 week. Let the skin heal. Picking or peeling the treated skin will cause scarring.
