Brightening Treatment Program

미백 프로그램

Pigmentation analysis with UV photography
4-6 treatment sessions (peels, IPL, vitamin C infusion)
Calming treatments after each session
Home care product recommendations
Progress tracking photos

Western

Individual IPL sessions ($300-600 each, billed separately)
Peels billed separately ($150-300 each)
No structured program — just individual bookings

$600 total for 4-6 sessions. That’s $100-150 per session to actually fade dark spots. Compare to one $400+ Western IPL session that only addresses surface pigmentation.

The Korean philosophy

Korean dermatology recognizes that hyperpigmentation has multiple causes (UV, inflammation, hormones) and multiple depths (epidermal, dermal). No single technology addresses all of them. The Korean approach layers different treatments to target pigmentation at every level, with each session building on the last.

The ritual

1

Pigmentation mapping

15 min

UV photography reveals hidden sun damage and maps the depth and type of your pigmentation. This determines which combination of treatments will be most effective for your specific concerns.

2

Brightening peel session

45 min

A carefully chosen peel (lactic, azelaic, or tranexamic acid depending on your skin) is applied to exfoliate pigmented cells. The peel concentration increases gradually across sessions. A calming mask follows.

3

IPL + vitamin C session

50 min

IPL light pulses target melanin clusters, shattering them so the body can clear them naturally. Immediately after, a high-concentration vitamin C serum is infused using iontophoresis to brighten and protect.

4

Maintenance session

45 min

The final 1-2 sessions combine elements of previous treatments at optimized settings. Your home care routine is customized to maintain results long-term.

Your first time

The first visit includes a detailed pigmentation analysis with UV photography — you’ll see hidden sun damage you didn’t know you had. The first session is typically a gentle brightening peel — mild tingling and warmth. IPL sessions (later in the program) feel like rubber band snaps with bright flashes of light. Each session, you’ll see incremental improvement. By session 3-4, the transformation is visible. Expect 1-3 days of mild redness and flaking after each session.

When to book

Best done in fall/winter when sun exposure is minimal. Commit to strict SPF use throughout the program. Don’t start if you have a beach vacation planned in the next 2 months. Allow 8-12 weeks for the full program.

East vs West

Western clinics typically offer IPL or peels as standalone treatments, leaving it to the patient to piece together a program. Korean clinics design integrated programs that combine multiple technologies in a strategic sequence, with each session building on the last. The multi-modality approach is more effective for stubborn pigmentation.

Aftercare

SPF 50+ is absolutely non-negotiable throughout the program and for 2 months after. Avoid retinol for 3-5 days after each session. Use gentle, hydrating products only. Direct sun exposure can reverse all progress — take this seriously.
