$110 for a sleeping facial that includes a nap. Where else do you get to sleep at an appointment and wake up more attractive? That’s worth more than therapy.

The Korean philosophy

Korean skincare has always understood that products work best during sleep — that’s why sleeping masks exist. This treatment takes that philosophy to its logical conclusion: what if you could get a professional facial AND sleep through it? The overnight sleeping facial turns rest into an active skincare treatment, honoring the Korean belief that beauty and self-care shouldn’t always require active effort.

The ritual

1

Double cleanse

8 min

A thorough oil and water cleanse prepares your skin for the multiple treatment layers to come. Every trace of makeup, sunscreen, and environmental residue is removed.

2

Gentle exfoliation

7 min

A mild enzyme or low-acid exfoliation ensures the treatment products can penetrate evenly. Kept gentle since the products will have extended contact time during sleep.

3

Multi-serum layering

15 min

Four to five concentrated serums are applied in sequence: hyaluronic acid for hydration, niacinamide for brightening, peptides for firming, centella for calming, and an ampoule tailored to your specific concerns. Each layer is patted in before the next.

4

Eye treatment

5 min

A specialized eye cream or hydrogel eye patches are applied to address dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines. These stay on during your sleep for extended treatment.

5

Sleeping mask application

5 min

A thick, gel-cream sleeping mask is applied generously over everything. This creates an occlusive barrier that prevents product evaporation and holds all layers against your skin. The room is dimmed, a blanket is provided, and the temperature is adjusted for comfort.

6

Sleep

60-90 min

You sleep in the treatment room for 1-2 hours. The room is dark, quiet, and temperature-controlled. Some spas offer aromatherapy and white noise. This is actual, genuine sleep — not just resting with your eyes closed.

7

Gentle removal and finish

10 min

The esthetician gently wakes you and removes any residual mask. A light moisturizer and SPF are applied. Your skin should look dramatically more hydrated, plump, and radiant — like a full night’s beauty sleep compressed into a nap.

Your first time

This is one of the most unique treatments you’ll ever experience. After a full facial, a thick sleeping mask goes on your face, the lights go down, and you’re told to sleep. The treatment room is set up for napping — dimmed lights, comfortable temperature, quiet music or silence (your preference). A blanket keeps you warm. Most people are surprised that they actually fall asleep, but the relaxing facial plus dim environment makes it easy. You’re gently woken after 1-2 hours. The mask has been fully absorbed. Your skin looks remarkably different — deeply hydrated, glowing, plumped up. It’s the best nap you’ll ever take.

When to book

Perfect the day before or two days before an event — the hydration peaks immediately and lasts 3-5 days. Great for jet lag recovery. Schedule in the afternoon if possible — the nap can interfere with nighttime sleep if done too late. Monthly sessions maintain peak hydration. Block out 2.5 hours total for the appointment.

East vs West

This is a uniquely Korean innovation that doesn’t really exist in Western spa culture. Western spas separate the treatment (facial) from the rest (relaxation room). Korean spas combine them into one integrated experience where rest IS the treatment. The sleeping facial is also more cost-effective than a standard facial because the esthetician’s active time is only 30-40 minutes — the rest is your nap.

Aftercare

Your skin is deeply hydrated and all products have fully absorbed. Just continue your normal routine. For maximum longevity, use a sleeping mask at home between appointments. Avoid harsh exfoliation for 48 hours.
