The Korean philosophy

Korean beauty has always understood that great skin starts from within. IV drip therapy is the clinical extension of this philosophy — delivering antioxidants and brightening agents directly to the bloodstream bypasses the limitations of topical absorption. What takes months with serums can be accelerated from the inside.

The ritual

1

Health screening

5 min

A brief health questionnaire and blood pressure check ensures you’re a good candidate. Some clinics do a quick blood test on your first visit to check kidney function and G6PD status.

2

IV line placement

3 min

A small catheter is placed in your arm or hand vein. One quick needle poke — then the needle is removed and only a flexible plastic tube remains. Virtually painless after the initial stick.

3

Drip administration

25-35 min

The glutathione and vitamin C solution drips slowly into your vein. You’ll sit in a comfortable chair — most people read, scroll their phones, or nap. Some people notice a slight garlic-like taste (from the glutathione) or mild warmth. Totally normal.

4

Post-drip monitoring

5 min

The IV is removed and a small bandage applied. You’ll wait a few minutes to ensure no dizziness. You can resume all normal activities immediately.

Your first time

If you’ve ever had blood drawn, you know what the needle part feels like — one quick poke, then it’s over. You’ll sit in a comfortable reclining chair while the drip runs for 25-35 minutes. It’s boring in the best way — bring a book or your phone. You might notice a faint garlic taste in your mouth (glutathione does this) and some mild warmth. Both are normal and harmless. Afterward, you’ll likely feel energized — the vitamin C gives a noticeable boost. No downtime, no restrictions. Some people do this on their lunch break.

When to book

No specific timing requirements. Weekly sessions for 4-6 weeks deliver the most noticeable brightening results. Then monthly maintenance. Great to start 6-8 weeks before a major event (wedding, vacation) for cumulative brightening. Can be combined same-day with facial treatments for an inside-out approach.

East vs West

Korean clinics have been offering IV skin brightening for decades as a standard dermatology service. Western “drip bars” are a recent trend that repackages the same concept at 2-3x the price with trendy branding. Korean clinics focus on medical-grade formulations and dermatologist oversight; Western drip bars often emphasize the lounge experience.

Aftercare

Stay hydrated after your drip. No special skincare precautions needed. If you notice enhanced energy, that’s the vitamin C working. Pair with SPF religiously — you’re brightening your skin, so protect it from new pigmentation.
