$110 for cosmetic acupuncture rooted in 5,000 years of Korean medical tradition. That’s less than a Botox touch-up — and this stimulates your body’s own collagen rather than injecting a toxin.

The Korean philosophy

Traditional Korean Medicine views the face as a map of overall health — wrinkles, sagging, and dullness aren’t just cosmetic concerns but signals of internal imbalance. Cosmetic acupuncture addresses both the symptom (aging skin) and the root cause (qi stagnation, blood deficiency, organ imbalance). Korean medicine practitioners believe that truly beautiful skin requires internal harmony, not just external treatment.

The ritual

1

Consultation and face reading

10 min

The practitioner examines your face, tongue, and pulse — traditional diagnostic methods in Korean medicine. They identify constitutional imbalances and create a customized point prescription for your face and body.

2

Facial cleansing

5 min

Your face is gently cleansed to create a sterile surface for needle insertion. No products can interfere with the acupuncture points.

3

Needle insertion

10 min

Ultra-fine needles are inserted at specific facial points (around eyes, mouth, forehead, jawline) and body points (hands, feet, ears). You’ll feel a tiny pinch or nothing at all for each needle. Some points produce a dull ache or warmth — this is called “de qi” and means the point is activated.

4

Retention with heat

25 min

You rest with the needles in place for 20-30 minutes while an infrared heat lamp warms your face. This enhances blood circulation and helps the acupuncture points activate more effectively. Most people enter a deeply relaxed, meditative state.

5

Removal and massage

7 min

Needles are removed gently. A facial massage along acupuncture meridians further stimulates circulation and lymphatic drainage. Any tiny needle marks are barely visible.

6

Herbal mask or serum

8 min

A traditional Korean herbal mask or serum (often containing ginseng, licorice root, or green tea) is applied to nourish the freshly treated skin.

Your first time

The needles used in cosmetic acupuncture are incredibly thin — much finer than injection needles or even sewing needles. Most insertions feel like nothing, or a brief mosquito-bite-like pinch. Once all needles are placed (usually 15-25 in the face plus 5-10 on the body), you lie still under a heat lamp. This rest period is profoundly relaxing — many people fall into a deep, almost dreamlike state. After 20-30 minutes, the needles are removed (painless) and you receive a facial massage. You may notice an immediate glow and your skin may feel slightly tingly. Occasional tiny bruises at needle sites are possible but rare. The real results build over a series of treatments.

When to book

For anti-aging results, commit to weekly sessions for 6-10 weeks. Monthly maintenance sessions sustain the results. Book 24 hours before an event rather than the day of, in case of any tiny bruises. Avoid alcohol and intense exercise the day of treatment. Best done in the afternoon when your body is naturally relaxed.

East vs West

Korean cosmetic acupuncture is rooted in Traditional Korean Medicine, which has a distinct theoretical framework from Chinese acupuncture (different point combinations, constitutional analysis, and herbal medicine traditions). Korean practitioners often use more facial points and integrate Korean herbal medicine post-treatment. The holistic approach — treating internal imbalances alongside visible aging — is more comprehensive than Western cosmetic acupuncture, which often focuses solely on the facial points.

Aftercare

Drink plenty of water after treatment. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours. Your body is processing the acupuncture stimulation — you may feel deeply relaxed or slightly emotional. This is normal. Keep your face clean and moisturized. Any tiny bruises will resolve in 1-2 days.
